After years of struggles and setbacks, Rana’s story shows that miracles really do happen.
Finding Support
This is so needed! Thank you IVF Buddies DFW for being there for people going through IVF. I was looking for people who share my experiences in Dallas to help me through my journey, and I couldn’t find any support groups around me, nor anyone I could relate to — and that’s why I’m grateful that now we have IVF Buddies DFW.
The Early Struggles
For years, I tried to conceive naturally — tracking ovulation, eating healthy, staying hopeful month after month. I did get pregnant, but two weeks after my positive pregnancy test, I started bleeding and miscarried.
The disappointment month after month strained my relationship with my husband, and I eventually realized we needed help and went to a fertility doctor.
We began with timed ovulation, hoping that just this simple method would do the trick. When that didn’t work, we moved on to IUI (intrauterine insemination) — and still, no success. Eventually, IVF became the next step. I was nervous but hopeful that this would finally be it.
Facing Setbacks
But then, something unexpected happened. My first fertility doctor refused to do IVF for me. I have a condition that made my chances of success very low, and hearing that was devastating. I felt like the door to motherhood was being closed right in front of me.
Still, I wasn’t ready to give up. I found another doctor — someone compassionate, experienced, and willing to work with me. Together, we started my IVF journey.
The Journey to Success
We did two rounds of IVF, and I was able to get a few good-quality embryos. Then I did an implantation for one of them and I finally saw that long-awaited positive result: I was pregnant.
Hearing my baby’s heartbeat for the first time was one of the most emotional moments of my life.
But just a week later, I miscarried. That loss shattered me. The emotional and physical pain was overwhelming, but I knew I had to understand why. So, I went through extensive testing — a uterine biopsy, a hysteroscopy, and months of medication to treat endometriosis. It was exhausting, but I refused to lose hope.
Finally, after all the heartbreak, injections, blood draws, procedures, surgeries, and tears, we implanted another embryo. This time — it worked.
Holding the Miracle
And today, I have a beautiful one-year-old baby girl who fills my world with love and laughter. Every time I look at her, I’m reminded that every struggle, every sleepless night, every setback was worth it.
My IVF journey took around five years — five years of hope, disappointment, resilience, and finally, joy. I’m sharing my story because I know how lonely this journey can feel. But please know: you are not alone.
“If you’re still in the middle of your story — don’t give up. The road may be long and hard, but miracles do happen. I’m holding mine in my arms every day.” 💕- Rana
